<B>Envelope Format Instructions<D>
The LaserJet envelope format will work on any printer using a Canon
SX engine (the one with the paper output on top) including the LaserJet
II, III, QMS PS 810 and Apple LaserWriter II printers. The format
is for standard<R>
# 10 business size envelopes.
The format is designed to mailmerge envelopes, so you can print one,
or a whole slew of them at once. It does this through a combination
of <169>Repeating<170> frames and <169>Breaks.<170>
The secret to automatic mailmerging with this format is one tag called
<169>@NEWPAGE = <170>. This tag includes a BREAK to the next page,
so whenever Ventura encounters this tag it jumps to the next page.
To use this format with your <MI>database program<D>, have it <->create
an <B>ASCII<D> disk file which looks something like this:
@@NEWPAGE = Mickey & Minnie Mouse
5585 Baltimore Drive
La Mesa, CA 92021
@@NEWPAGE = Snow White & Grumpy
Postal Route 3
Anaheim, CA 90234
@@NEWPAGE = Wicked Queen & Dopey
Postal Route 4
Anaheim, CA 90234
Load this file into Ventura as a <B>WORDSTAR<D> file <MI>(if you load
it as an ASCII file, Ventura will remove all the hard returns and
you will end up with one giant paragraph).<D>
If you always use the same filename every time you create a list of
names to print, Ventura will automatically load the text file every
time you load the chapter.
The return address will move along with the graphic because it is
contained in a box-text frame. Box-text has been used instead of a
caption because repeating frames cannot have captions. To change the
text, simply click in the current text, delete it with the delete
key, and type new text. Make sure that you press ENTER between each
line, if you want a <169>ruling line below<170> to appear under each
line.
This envelope format is set up especially for the HP LaserJet Series
II or III (with or without a PostScript cartridge). Different brands
of printers may require minor modifications. To do this, simply resize
the large repeating frames in the background until the <169>To<170>
address appears where you want it, then move the graphic so that it
prints near the upper left corner of the envelope.
